2009 Tour de Kingdom - June 6th & 7th
Hi – About 12 of us from WMV did this ride last year, it’s well supported, has great food, beautiful ride routes and you can grab a shower after the ride. Last year it was a one day event, this year they’re offering two days of riding. I plan to grab a room in Newport and ride both days. The information below is from their website http://www.tourdekingdom.org/ . Follow the link for additional details. Highly recommended! Hope to see you there. Joe

The 2009 Tour de Kingdom is a one or two day competitive and recreational cycling event that takes you through one of the most scenic areas of Vermont, the Northeast Kingdom. Shaking off the rust from winter? Want to take a ride with your friends or participate in a fun event with the family? Want to compete for time on one or two of our century rides? This event will be right for you! We offer a choice of one or two days of riding, with fully supported loops of varying lengths from 15 miles to 100 miles. Both days start and end at IROC, 400 Quarry Road in Derby, Vermont.
Day One - Lake Region: June 6th takes riders through the Kingdom’s legendary lake region. We offer five loops of differing lengths: 15, 25, 50, 80, and 100 miles. These routes take riders through fields and forests and past farms and lakes, including Lake Seymour, Island Pond, Crystal Lake, Lake Willoughby and, of course, the Kingdom’s “Great Lake,” Lake Memphremagog.
Day Two - Hill Country: June 7th is intended to challenge those riders who live for the climb, taking them through the Kingdom’s western “hill country,” over Lowell Mountain and up and down the flanks of Jay Peak. The century route is designed to “grind your gears.” Shorter routes are also available for those who enjoy a more recreational, less challenging experience.
Registration on or before May 21st is $25 for adults with a minimum pledge of $25 for each day of the ride. Registration after May 21st through the day of the event is $50 with a minimum pledge of $50 for each day of the ride. Registration fee for youth under 18 years of age is $5 with a $5 minimum pledge through May 21st and $10 and $10 after May 21st.
